Make your own hummingbird nectar
Did you know you can make your own hummingbird nectar. It’s quick easy and you can save tons of money by using ingredients you already have at home! For pennies you can be having the hummingbirds outside your window everyday!
Replace the hummingbird nectar 1-2 weeks to keep it fresh. I hang my hummingbird feeder outside the kitchen window right in front of our kitchen table and we just love watching them come by and eat while we are eating!
There’s no need to add red food coloring if you are using a regular hummingbird feeder.
Homemade Hummingbird Nectar Recipe
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup hot water
Combine sugar and water until sugar is dissolved. Fill hummingbird feeders, store any excess nectar in fridge.
Wash hummingbird feeders as needed with warm soapy water and rinse well.

Hi, Tawra! My Mama used to make her own nectar like this and she would sometimes have three feeders going with as many as 28-32 regular hummingbird visitors! She loved watching their antics.
Hi Tawra – my friend found a hummingbird nectar recipe that was similar but added a tablespoonn of honey to the ingredients and the hummingbirds go crazy!
